Interview with May Hald, Head of Investor Relations at Investigate.vc

“Aligning Capital and Ecosystems”

Q: You’ve had a unique career across innovation, government, and capital strategy. What drew you to join Investigate.vc?

May Hald: What excited me about Investigate.vc is the commitment to building something different — a fund that deeply understands how companies grow, not just in product terms, but through ecosystem alignment, reputation, and funding structure. I’ve spent years helping startups secure the right kind of capital and partnerships to scale. This is an opportunity to do that at a much broader level, alongside a team that brings global experience and deep founder empathy.

Q: What do you see as the most important part of your role in supporting founders?

May Hald: Helping founders see the bigger picture. Scaling a company takes more than a great product or pitch deck. It takes knowing how to plug into systems — public funding, private capital, regulatory frameworks, and strategic partnerships. I’ve seen too many startups miss out on growth opportunities because they weren’t aware of the support systems available. I’m here to help change that.

Q: What have you learned from your work across innovation districts and public capital that translates into venture?

May Hald: One key lesson is that public capital — like EU funding — can be incredibly valuable, but also complex and time-consuming for startups. It’s not always founder-friendly. At the same time, I’ve seen how committed the public sector is to supporting innovation — they genuinely want venture to work, and are increasingly looking for ways to improve the ecosystem. That experience taught me the importance of alignment — between capital, founders, and systems — and that’s the lens I bring to our work at Investigate.

Q: What makes Investigate.vc different, in your view?

May Hald: It’s a hands-on fund. We don’t just write checks and attend board meetings. We actively help founders scale. And we do that with a global mindset — our team has worked across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. That international experience matters, because today’s startups are tomorrow’s global companies.

Q: How do you think about the relationship between capital and purpose?

May Hald: Capital should enable purpose, not dilute it. The best investors help founders stay aligned with their mission while creating the conditions for long-term growth. I’ve seen how smart funding strategy can turn an underdog into a market leader. At Investigate.vc, we’re committed to being that kind of partner.
